From Franjo

Dear friends and colleagues

Our next event ICCA 2023 is now in its final stages. Only a few smaller issues must be determined and everything is prepared. Let’s hope everything will be ok in this world from pandemic to wars, so we can meet next year in a better place.

I hope all who participated in the WPSC 2022 were satisfied, and take good memories and vibes back to your homes. We will put a big effort to make the ICCA 2023 even better, more fun, more socialized and more everything…

Please feel free to inform me, or ask any possible questions, and unclearness if they are, also if I make some other mistake or nonsense in this email or attachment.

Further detail on the itinerary, see Coppers Cup page.

10/11/22  -  A Message from Franjo

Dear friends and colleagues,

Although we still don't have exact dates and place for our next ICCA regatta I ask you to send us initial enrolments so I will be able to organize this event. The event will most likely be organized from Saturday 30.09 - 07.10.2023.

The venue will be determined later (Murter, Sukošan, Biograd, Krk).

So far I don't need you to fill it up the form, but just send me your declaration form to put the team on the list for ICCA 2023

Thank you very much - see you soon

News of the PSUK Offshore and NCA regattas in 2022

Latest from Ian Goodman:

Dear PSUK skippers and sailors,

Happy New Year and I hope you all had a good and covid free Christmas.

I have some mixed news about this years PSUK offshore championships. After some delay I was informed by Fairview that they would only have 12 boats available for racing in September, the normal date for the Griffin/PSUK regatta. This is due to the fact that 2 boats have been sold and and Fairview decided to charter a further 4 boats to another company for the whole of September. 12 boats is not enough to run both the Griffin and PSUK at the same time. I have been in discussion with Sunsail to try and get further boats for the same week but they also have little availability in September, certainly not enough to allow us to run two fleets in the same regatta. So after many email exchanges and discussions with both Fairview and Sunsail around dates and availability we have come to the decision that it is not possible to run the Griffin & PSUK events as one regatta this year and unfortunately we will have to run them as separate events on different dates. This is disappointing as, I hope you will agree, that having the large fleet combining both events makes for a good regatta and good racing no matter where in the fleet you happen to be.

However, we are where we are and the PSUK Offshore Championships will take place on 9th - 14th October 2022. While I am not official part of PSUK as I organise the Griffin event, I am happy to organise the PSUK event if you are content for me to do so. I have taken the liberty of doing the initial organisation using 12 Sunsail 41 yachts at a charter price £1674 Including 4 nights berthing in Cowes. I have also discussed and booked the regatta with Island Sailing Club and they are happy to run the racing. The entry fee is likely to be the same as previous years at £570 per boat. The regatta will be run in the same format as the Griffin regatta with boat pick up Sunday evening from 17:00 at Port Solent. Monday practice day and passage to Cowes with the first race at 15:00 on the ISC start line. Racing Tues - Thurs with boats return to Port Solent by 17:00 Friday. Monday curry evening and Thursday prize giving dinner will be included in the entry fee.

I am in discussion with the PSUK committee regarding entry criteria etc for PSUK events and I hope to get the Notice Of Race out to you shortly. Sunsail are holding their fleet of 12 Sunsail 41's for us until 1st March 2022 and skippers will need to sign up and register with Sunsail prior to this date. (FYI Fairview have insisted on skippers confirmation of charter by 31st January for the Griffin regatta so the charter companies are getting stricter with us which is not helpful!). So I'm afraid you will need to start talking to your crews now and be prepared to book the charter with Sunsail by 1st March.

Regardless of the fact that we can't hold both Griffin & PSUK events together this year, I'm sure we can still make the PSUK Championships a very enjoyable event. I will be in touch again soon with the NOR but in the meantime please contact me if you have any questions.

Regards
Ian
