8.         Permitting other Services to enter the Championship

There was a brief discussion regarding whether other emergency services should be invited to take part in the PSUK National Sailing Championships. A full report on the issue having been included in the information pack given to each crew prior to the weeks commencement. Currently the cycling section is the only section that has joint membership.

Consideration was given to whether the fire and ambulance services could be invited to take part but not be eligible to win prizes. Also that the host force would have control over how many places could be offered to guests, depending on take up from other force race teams.

There was a show of hands for inviting the other emergency services to take part in PSUK and the result was:

For = 17

Against = 26

            It was therefore agreed that PSUK nationals will remain a police only event at this time.

9.         Emergency Services Championship for November

Andy Rowell, Met Police proposed a Round the Island Race be held in the Autumn which all emergency services could take part in. This would be a charity based event.

There was a show of hands with a majority supporting this proposal.

Andy Rowell, Met Police volunteered to arrange the first of these events.
