Winsford Flash Sailing Club again hosted Cheshire Police’s annual regatta. As well as 3 helms from the host Force, the Met, also West Midlands and Avon & Somerset all sent entrants putting a total fleet of 9 boats out.

There were a few boats not normally seen on the Flash, such as Comet Trios, Phantoms, a Laser Vago and a Supernova alongside the more familiar Lasers.

It was a dry and reasonably bright day with light variable winds causing problems around some of the leeward marks but it all added to the challenge.

Race 1 got underway at just after 11am with the 2 Phantoms of Simon Hawkes (A&S) and Ken Daniels (Met) leading the way, closely followed by defending champion Ian Ingram (W. Mids) in his Laser. This tended to be the sequence throughout the day in which the wind never strengthened enough to cause even one capsize.
